A Journey to Faith and Islam

Lynn Hourani, 52, originally from Britain converted to Islam in 1987. Maryam Mir, 57, converted to Islam 36 years ago. Natalie Deroock, 35, who is a Native American, is a Muslim convert from last year. These women talked about their journey to faith as they sat in the library at the Downtown Islamic Center in Tucson.

”Every person is a convert because when you become psychologically aware, you question a certain faith, that you were raised in before you sear your own part of the journey,” Ms. Hourani said.

The Downtown Islamic Center provides support for recent converts.
