Daniela Franco

Daniela Franco is a rising senior at New York University. She is studying journalism, sociology, and Latin American studies. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, she has a passion for international reporting and social justice issues. This summer, she will be working at as an editorial intern.


Mount Hopkins has been home to the MMT Observatory for over three decades. Now, it is the 14th largest telescope in the world and the go-to telescope for scientists who want to see deep space.



Mia Chism, a copy editor at the Institute, loves spending time with people who love journalism as much as she does and would rather copy-edit in her spare time than watch Netflix.


It took a journey through social media to find a woman who went through a violent and traumatic trek to the United States. This is one of many examples of how social media can be used as a tool in reporting.
